             abstract = "This work evaluates the application of the Terra/MODIS and 
                         GOES/Imager sensors to simulate cloudy-sky solar irradiance data 
                         for the year of 2003. Comparison between simulated and ground data 
                         obtained by pyranometer were conducted though linear regression 
                         analysis. The results showed good agreement between obtained and 
                         simulated data (r=0,92; significance level=95%). Furthermore, the 
                         clouds can reduce the solar irradiance close to 56% of the solar 
                         constant. However, better accuracy of the model depends on 
                         knowledge of local factors such as precipitable water, optical 
                         depth and type of aerosol.",
